A Member of Firebird Arts Alliance

Celebrating Our
VOX is the official chorus of the Firebird Arts Alliance, dedicated to combining community building with choral excellence. A semi-professional chamber choir of 20-30 singers, VOX strives to perform the most authentically diverse musical styles of any choral ensemble in the region.

Founded in 2007, VOX has collaborated with innumerable artists and communities, most recently accompanying world-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli during his Charlotte engagement. Other notable collaborations include Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Kathy Mattea, as well as countless choirs from throughout the Carolinas, Martha Connerton’s Dance Works, WTVI Public Television, Central Piedmont Community College Opera, Wonderworld Film and Video, and many more.

VOX is the lead choir in Firebird’s major projects – Singin’ Black and White and the
Piedmont Baroque Consortium.

10th Anniversary Season

Francis Poulenc wrote some of the most exquisite, beguiling, and challenging choral music of the 20th century, including his rarely performed Stabat Mater, which depicts the crucifixion of Christ through the eyes of his mother, Mary.
At age 76, after a lifetime of operatic triumphs, Giuseppe Verdi returned to his roots as a church musician and wrote his Quattro Pezzi Sacri (Four Sacred Pieces), miniature gems ranging from intimate a cappella motets to full-throated anthems of praise.
