Francis Poulenc wrote some of the most exquisite, beguiling, and challenging choral music of the 20th

eyes of his mother, Mary.

At age 76, after a lifetime of operatic triumphs, Giuseppe Verdi returned to his roots as a church musician and wrote his Quattro Pezzi Sacri (Four Sacred Pieces), miniature gems ranging from intimate a cappella motets to full-throated anthems of praise.
